I can’t really tell you how many times I have said that to myself, and that is how the Delusional Artist Project was born.
I am 28, living with my mom, have a masters but am working in fast food. My art isn’t selling. My art isn’t even getting into shows let alone winning them. I’m your quintessential debt ridden, underemployed millennial.
But I also can not stop making art. So maybe I’ve held onto the belief that I’m just out of reach of my next break, whether it’s a viral IG photo, or I finally win and sell at a juried show, it’s always going to happen with the next post or next show.
I’ve done it so many times that what at first felt like eternal optimism, slowly morphed into the “Who are you kidding” voice. You could call me delusional, I certainly have.
And then it occured to me to just host my own shows. Be the gallery that gives you a break. I don’t need to charge $50 for 2 images, and I can talk about what is happening out there.
So you can join me on this journey of starting a digital gallery, follow along on the podcast and instagram.
